THE LEMONS STORY
The Lemons have been making music for many years. Their rock & roll is sometimes crunchy, sometimes acoustic, always melodic, memorable and moving. They play original music and a range of energetic and entertaining covers when the gig calls for it. Founding members Trent Simpson (drums) and Rick Yarish (guitar and keys) have been playing together so long, it is entertaining to watch and listen to musicians who can anticipate and follow each other instinctively.
Undoubtedly, these Lemons make a wonderful noise together.
Although there have been several personnel changes over the years, two core original members remain: Trent Simpson and Rick Yarish.
We thank all past Lemons for their wonderful musical contributions and dear friendship.
Kevin Tillberg joined in 2018, bringing back a second guitar in the mix.
2024 saw the addition of two new Lemons, Russ Psooy, guitar, keys and vocals, as well as
Steve Clemis, on bass.

From young guys with dreams, to mature, seasoned musicians, the Lemons have evolved and now showcase their skills in this latest album, with soulful, melodic writing from both Rich Vandale (former Lemon) and Rick Yarish. Soaring harmonies and smooth backbeats fill out this collection of well written songs that you'll hear on the album, "Waiting For A Train"

Trent Simpson-co-founder, percussion, vocals, and keeper of Lemonland
Being a Lemon has been the main part of a varied musical career for Trent, that includes playing swing, traditional Celtic, country and straight up rock. From Abba to Zeppelin, these influences are brought to the Lemons rhythmic core. |
Rick Yarish-co-founder, vocals, guitar, keyboards, mandolin
Rick loves playing music with great people and players and feels like he won the lottery with the Lemons. As a principle songwriter and organizer in the band Rick loves lemonland and enjoys sharing the love far and wide. |
Kevin Tillberg-Guitar, vocals
Joined the Lemons in late 2018 and brings 70's and 80's musical sensibilities and guitar flavour, plus another strong lead vocal as well as soaring harmonies. Some of Kevin's songwriting will be featured on the next Lemons album, currently in production. |
Russ Psooy-Guitar, keys, vocals
Russ is the lightning bolt that hit the Lemon tree in 2024. A dynamic singer, guitar player, keyboard player who brings contagious energy to everything he does. His songwriting and musical abilities have been the driver in several great Winnipeg bands. |

Bass player extraordinaire! There's a good reason Steve has played with so many bands in Winnipeg; not just rock 'n roll, his solid, in-the-pocket abilities are the roots that keep the Lemon tree solid while still allowing it to sway in the breeze! |
